about

Man On A Corner is a penetrating gaze into the homeless population of the United States and the associated attitudes towards those living on the streets. The purposeful and shameful inadequacy of social programs must end. There are about half a million homeless people in the United States on any given day and over 1.5 million vacant homes. I see a solution.

In Chicago, houses must be boarded up after sitting vacant for ninety days. Rather than boarding them up, how about we house our homeless, Chicago?

lyrics

Standing on a corner holding a sign
Where are you going mister
Anywhere but here
Did you think twenty years ago
That you would be standing
At the side of a highway and
Holding a sign

What do you think is gonna happen
Do you think that god will finally
Set the world to right
Or perhaps that human kindness
And a bit of luck will be
Enough to suffice

Oh oh oh oh
It’s up to me it’s up to you
Heroes are for movies not the streets

How did it come to this I’ve always feared
How someone winds up on the corner holding a sign
But mister did anyone ever tell you
You’ve got to help yourself
Or you’re gonna die

Oh oh oh oh
It’s up to me it’s up to you
Heroes are for movies not the streets
Oh oh oh oh
It’s up to me It’s up to you
Heroes are for movies not you and me

Oh mister oh please mister oh listen to me
Oh mister oh please mister oh can'tcha see

Oh oh oh oh
It’s up to me it’s up to you
Heroes are for movies not the streets
Oh oh oh oh
It’s up to me it’s up to you
Heroes are for movies
Not you and me
